172 Diaper Pick Up

4/27/11
I learned a new game today that is not very much fun but I am sure a lot of parents will end up playing at some point in their lives. It is called 172 diaper pick up. The game starts when naughty children decide to empty out the brand new box of diapers that you just purchased from Costco and throw them around the room. The game is finished when the parent is done picking up all the diapers while the children cry that they don't want to clean up and you are getting after them. It is awesome! I hope I never have to do that again but I know that is just wishful thinking.

I Want To Go Home!!

4/25/11
Spencer keeps telling me that he want to go home, but we are at home. I am not really sure what to do. I alked him were home is and he just shruggs his shoulders and then continues to yell at me that he want to go home. Not quite sure where to take him.

The Hulk Strikes Again!

4/19/11
Today Jake thought it would be a good idea to take one of our sectional pieces apart, move it, and tip it over. A while ago he had cut slices on the side with a pair of shears and I guess he decided it would be a good idea to pull on the fabric he had already cut. I don't know how he does these things. The end piece is a recliner and is pretty heavy. Our couches are pretty much ruined.

Microwaving DVDs

4/16/11
So, I wrote last time how my sweet little boys microwaved formula samples. Well, that is not all they have been microwaving. Today I opened one of my DVD cases to find that the disk was ruined. It was warped and bubbled up a bit. Jake and Spencer put it in the microwave. Now I am really surprised that the microwave works. Where do they come up with this stuff?

Microwaving Formula

4/14/11
We usually have hectic mornings. This morning the chaos was added to by me not being able to find my keys. Usually it takes about 15 minutes to walk to Alex's school, which I like to do when we have time. Today was not one of those days where we had time. I had 7 minutes to get Alex to school. We ran almost the entire way, which was really good for me since I was pushing Jake and Spencer in a stroller. I never want to do that again.
Jake and Spencer are really good at making food for themselves. They put the food on a plate, push a button on the microwave, and warm up their food. Normally they cook hot dogs or chicken nuggets. Today they decided to try something new. I had received in the mail 2 sample cans of formula in a box. The boys stuck the formula, box and all, in the microwave and turned it on. Luckily I caught it after a few seconds otherwise I might be needing a new microwave. I really don't know why I am getting formula samples either since my baby is 2 and way beyond formula.

Stolen Coat

4/8/11
I have been struggling with Alex's teacher this year. I feel like she doesn't listen and is not very organizes. The icing on the cake though is that Alex's coat got stollen and she did nothing. I sent Alex to school with a coat because there was snow on the ground and he came home without one. When he told his teacher, she said they would look for it the next day. Now I have no coat for my kid so he had to wear a jacket today and it is cold and snowy outside. I am not very happy.

Spencer Turns 2

I cannot believe my baby is 2! It's crazy! To me it feels like I just had him and he is growing up

so fast! He loves animals and balls and his mommy. Spencer also really likes water and I find him in the sink all the time. Usually
it is the kitchen sink. He likes to do the dishes. He will also drink
out of the sink. He is just such a happy boy and I am so glad he is

part of our family. He is also very good, which helps me out since I have one that is a big challenge. He had a fun birthday and was so excited to blow out his candles. We had to take the cake from him while the family sang "Happy Birthday" so he wouldn't blow the candles out. I am looking forward to more fun moments in the coming years.

Knock Out

3/26/11

Jake has now helped to knock out both of Alex's front teeth. Jake hit the first tooth with a toy and today he knocked out the other by jumping on Alex's face. Both teeth were a little loose but not ready to come out. Now both front teeth are gone and I think it will be a while before there are any teeth to replace them. I am just grateful they are baby teeth.

Nothing is Safe

We have to lock up a lot of things to keep the boys out of stuff and breakable things safe. With Jake around this is very difficult. Here he is trying to get into the pantry. If that boy wants something there is not much that can stop him....even me.

Poor Sick Little Baby

3/9/11
I hate it when I have a sick baby. It makes me feel so bad for them. Today I took Spencer to the doctors because when he woke up this morning both his eyes were stuck shut. Not only does he have an infection in his eyes, but both ears are infected and he night have walking pneumonia. Not totally sure on the last one since he wouldn't cough for the doctor but he sounded really congested when he was breathing. We got antibiotics to treat it all. No wonder he has been such a grumpy baby.

Barbies.....Not Just For Girls

3/7/11
Apparently when you go to McDonalds and you tell them the happy meals are for boys, they give you barbies. That is what happened when I took the boys there for dinner tonight. The funny thing is, all three of my boys were excited to have the doll. Alex even asked if I had a barbie brush he could use to brush the doll's hair.

Makin' Lunch

3/6/11
When I got out of the shower today I found Jake making lunch for him and Spencer. He got the hot dogs out of the fridge and cooked them in the microwave. He even cut up Spencer's hot dog. I thought this was very nice of him. Maybe Jake is trying to make up for taking the lamp in my front room apart and rearranging the furniture, which he did earlier today.

More "Beers" Please

3/4/11
Spencer decided that he wanted some rootbeer, which he calls "beers" and figured he would pour himself his own cup. He got the rootbeer out of the fridge and climbed on the counter to get a cup. He put the cup on the shelf in the cabinet and proceded to pour the rootbeer into it. Rootbeer was everywhere, and he managed to get a little in the cup as well. Jake has taught him well.

Poop on the Walls

3/3/11
One thing I have learned from being a mom is that children are disgusting. Jake confimed this by sticking his finger in his poopy diaper. (Oh how I wish he would let me potty train him!!)When he saw the poo on his finger he thought it was gross, which is was, and wiped it on the wall. Then he went and washed his hands. Why couldn't he have just washed his hands in the first place? And why wipe it on the wall? It is never ok to have poo on the wall! That is Jake though. We don't understand a lot of what he does.

Church...Is It Worth It?

2/20/11
We are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Part of being a member is attending weekly church meetings. Three hours every Sunday is a long time, especially with little kids. Lately I have been pondering if it is really worth the torture every week. For us, it is like being at the circus. We chase our kids all over, they cry, scream, throw things. I don't get to hear anything that is being said and often end up in tears myself, but we are trying. Today Matt asked Jake what he learned in church. Jake's response was "Santa." I was pretty sure we learned about Jesus, but I guess Jake is getting something different from his lessons. So, is it worth it? I hope one day it will be. For now, we will just keep trying.....

7 Years Old

Time has flown by! My little boy is 7! I guess that makes him not so little. He still loves legos and transformers and is such a smart kid. It really doesn't seem like he was born that long ago. He is a good boy and I think he can do great things if he puts his mind to it. I love him so much!

Silly Spencer

Updating my blog is not something I am good at. I realize how far behind I am, but I am adding a couple funny things Spencer did from February 2, 2011.

Last night I went to check on Spencer before going to bed myself and found him curled up in his bed completely naked! I didn't think he knew how to undress himself yet because he hadn't done it before, but like so many times before, I was wrong. He got upset at me for moving him and getting him dressed while Matt changed the sheets. I felt bad moving him, but it would not have been a good idea to leave him there all night.

In our house, and really, anyone who has little kids or animals knows this, we have to make sure the bathroom door is shut. Well, someone left is open and Spencer got in. No, that is not toilet paper in there either. I think Spencer thought he would do some laundry and put Matt's dress shirt in the toilet. When I found him he was getting ready to put another shirt in. Good thing he didn't try flushing!

Christmas 2010

Christmas. The most wonderful time of the year!
As a child I remember loving Christmas. All the anticipation and excitement. But as I got older, Christmas lost some of its magic. Now, having my own children, I think this is one of my favorite holidays. I can feel that magic again. I love Santa, putting up the tree and the decorations, and the lights.
We do try to keep Christ in Christmas. I love the nativity, but having one displayed in our home is difficult because my children break EVERYTHING!! My dad painted a beautiful ceramic nativity for us but I am afraid to display it now for fear of it being destroyed. So we purchased
a Fisher-Price one, just to have something to put out. The kids loved it, and it worked great
because they could play with it and not break anything. Love it! Even Wolverine went to visit baby Jesus. Jake also had interesting ways to play with the set. He liked to line up everything and put it in a circle. I am still impressed by his circle making ability with toys.
The nativity was our only decoration, besides the tree. This does make me sad, but hopefully one day we will be able to get out the other decorations again.
I honestly think I get more excited than the kids. I wake up at 4
am and lay in bed, trying to go back to sleep until the kids wake up. I can't help it! I love seeing their little faces light up. By 7, Matt usually says we can wake them up. It takes a minute for them to realize that it is Christmas and they have presents under the tree. But then they run out, dressed in their new pajamas from the night before, and I can feel the excitement bursting from them.
I do also love making gingerbread houses. Matt bought me a kit
that was a lot of fun to make. Once made though, it is hard to
keep little hands off it. I was keeping the house on the fridge to display for a little while but needed to do some cleaning in the kitchen. I thought by putting the house on the piano it would be safe. I was wrong. Sometimes I forget that my kids can climb. Well, Spencer found the house and started biting the candy off. I had to laugh.
As you will notice, there are no decorations on our tree, but lights. They broke the glass balls, so I got plastic, and somehow they managed to break those too. So the tree is bare. They can't
leave the stockings alone either. Jake is displaying one way they play with them. Sometimes they put the stockings on their feet as well. Christmas eve we are looking for the stockings to put back by the fireplace for Santa to fill.
I love the holidays and I love my family, and despite my kids craziness, I love that I get to have them in my life.
Merry Christmas!!
